Why is there so much sick shit on the internet? I mean things like Paedohpilia, Endophilia, Beastiality, Terror Groups, Racism, hard drugs among other things. Is this the sacrifice we make for free speech? What can be done to clear any of this up do you think?

What would you expect to be done. If those sites are legal where they are put up, they have every right to be there as a site about fuzzy purple spotted elephants, or wikipedia.

Also, where does it end?

honestly though a great many of them aren't. We have all before come across certain sites that shouldn't exist by law, but do.
I think there is no general way to deal with any of this at the moment due to international jurisdiction and such nothing really happens and what we do hear in the news pales by the actual extent of it.

What ways do you think need to be reformed to somehow deal with this sorts of things without impinging on personal privacy?

I fail to see what is so bad with that site.

Besides, who can honestly say what is perverted or not? Censorship is bullshit, if you don't like something, disregard it.

The internet is just a mirror of the computer-literate society. There are a lot of "sick freaks" that know how to upload a file, so there is a lot of "sick shit" on the internet.

Endorphins are chemicals released by the body to make you feel good. I don't see how one could be sexually attracted to them. I think it means you're sexually attracted to the forest moon Endor.

I'm glad that there is so much sick s*** on the internet. It's not that I look at it/use it, but it beats being censored.

Yes, people are sick. For every politician who want's to ban evilar video games there are 10 others who like to watch child pornography. Restricting the access doesn't solve anything though, it just hides it from the eyes of the ignorant masses. That would probably be enough for hysterics, but I think we should treat the cause of the illness instead of the symptoms. Send the people who come up with questionable material into a mental institution for a check-up if possible, but it would be wrong to destroy the medium just because it has been abused. After all, I don't think the material itself makes people sick(well, maybe a bit nauseous), you need to be disturbed in the first place.

In that case I don't find it that sick.
It's weird and perhaps even impossible, but not sick..

Anyway, there have been sick people in this world for ages. The only difference:
sick people + teh interwebs => sick people on teh interwebsyou + teh interwebs => you on teh interwebs

You'll notice the overlap in the internet part, you're bound to come across sick people.

It can be here, it is its right.
I want to know why people who go about living normal lives with normal tastes and sensibilities, you put them on the internet and they subject themselves to the most horrendous shit that nobody would ever want to see. Mutilation, murder-suicide, deadly perversion, its all downloaded on your friends hard drive and he wants you to see it when you get a chance.

I had to work very hard to not get the Nick Burg slaying shown to me. I heard it was terrible, and I asked myself: will my life improve in any way for seeing or hearing this? No, in fact it would probably be something that would haunt me. I chose not to expose myself to it. Why do so many people seek out things that could only damage them mentally?

Curiosity, of course.

Okay, curiosity, but some of this stuff is just gruesome. I know people who would look sickly if I picked my nose in front of them, but then they turn around and say "watch, this guy gets his face ripped off by a lawnmower!". What the hell.

Holy crap! That's the most disturbing shit I've ever heard!

Anyway: yes. Sacrifice for free speech. As stated by a famous recently murdered gay person: If an imam wants to call gay people more disgusting and lower than pigs, that's fine by me. As long as I have the right to call him a goatfucker.

odiousangel said it... Its the anonymity...

The world is full of sick people. A good percentage of the population is made of fscked up people. They don't have it written on their forehead, but on the internet, nobody knows who they are, so they expose all their disturbances to the open. But you see weirdos everyday in the streets. You just don't know it.

That, and people have this idea that the internet is somehow not "the-real-world" (TM). Hence, they think they can do just about anything they want.

Oh, and soft drugs too. I can't stand all the sick s***s who post about the pot they smoke. Certainly free speech shouldn't extend far enough to keep these digusting amoral criminals out of jail. They should be banned from the internet for life.

There really isn't any more "sick s***" on the net then there is in real life - it's just easier to distribute and get to. Go to the red-light district of your nearest big city after midnight and you'll find all kinds of stuff that you may well regret ever learning existed. You also have cultures other than your own publishing stuff that you might find offensive but they don't - e.g. gay sites, non-<insert your particular religion here> sites, etc.
