OpenGL OpenGl Vanishing Texture

Problem: 64x64 RGBA texture suddenly disappears when zoomed out to about 1/2 size. Happens with gluBuild2DMipmaps as well as with glTexImage2D - and with both LINEAR and NEAREST params. Is there something I can do to fix this?

perhaps because its not within the view frustum anymore try increasing your zfar plane size
