Let's say I have a window with border and title bar and all of that. I want to add a clipper. How do I have the "rect" withing the border and title?

Assuming you''re taking Windoze/DirectX, their''s a nice, but little used API function called AdjustWindowRect (there''s also an Ex version). You give in the window style used to create the window and it works out all the shite to do with window borders, titles, menu bar etc. and returns a rectangle of the client area of your screen - RTFN for more info...
