Summertime?

Recommended Posts

Totally not GL related but we're a community after all or not? I've noticed there has been much less activity in the last few weeks. I guess most people is running around under the sky? Read this also as "knock knock... is there somebody?".

I'm working an Internship this summer. 40 hrs
I also still have my part-time jobs. 10 hrs
I'm stupid and I took summer classes. 15 hrs

Time left for OpenGL 0 hrs

I'm not complaining, I really wanted to get a couple of these classes out of the way. It's just that my extra time for personal projects went out the window.

It's just too hot here to think, damn summer humidity in England etc.. I sleep sweating, I wake up, after almost drowning in my own sweat... My meak body can hardly survive, let alone give my brain sufficient energy to think... As soon as I aclimatize to this shit hot weather... I'll be back in front of the good old IDE. =)

Just remember, the snowy mountains are getting a meter of snow, and its snowing for quite a few parts (like the blue mountains, you wake up with a frozen garden).

And in liverpool, the min was -1 yesterday! (iirc)

Me, what am i doing, i was smart enough to take a summer class called showreel, in it i am currently creating a 3 min hi quality movie(think ILM quality and then step down a notch or two or fifty) and then im adding other stuff i have done in the end of that.
It is keeping me fairly occupied, but i do have to squezze in a little ogl time there as well, since it is going to be in my showreel.

Mmmm.... toasty, we got about the same here today(and it's summer here).
But remember it's not cold until the teperature drops below -20C and it is not way to cold until it hit's -40C.

I'm quite surprised this turned out this interesting.

I really was thinking most people here was from US but I now see there's an active amount of people from other parts of the world - some are simply good to read because so different from what I've always experienced. A winter june from the south hemisphere of the world. I seldom think about it but it's quite strange for me - and the fact is it's just right.
I also didn't think about mountains. There are quite high mountains here but in this period of the year they doesn't get so cold.

I must tell you, I found all your replies somewhat relieving.
I feel somewhat better knowing the fact I'm not the only one in this kind of situation. Waking up early, working some days and studying others, I hardly have time to manage my hobbies. I really cannot keep up with the duties anymore but I will simply get out of it.

Good Luck to all of you!
Massimo

Believe it or not, I do still read these forums, I just generally lurk. Don't post... (I havn't posted in this forum for a good number of months)

Otherwise. Yes, very very busy.

University exams at the moment.

Plus I work 2-3 days a week commercializing augmented reality.

That and I have a full year project going, making an AR interactive star-wars exhibit... For that I'm leaving to america in about a month...

Ohh and my new engine..

So yeah a bit.

lol I never thought I'd read a thread on these forums that literally seems to be all about the weather [smile]. Just in case people are interested, its min 11 and max 27 degrees centigrade here in Pinetown, South Africa (and yes, this is our winter [smile])

As for what I'm doing, I'm taking an extended break from part time programming. Work (I program vehicle simulators) is taking up all my coding energy so I'm content to play a game or two on my computer every now and then and not much else. To those of you still studying, enjoy it why you can. Its only when you get into the working world that you realise just how much holiday time you actually had when studying.

lol, that depends what you're studying...6 hours of class, 6 hours of sleep, and 12 hours of homework means no time to program...sigh...

Thats true - I remember lots of all-nighters on assignments etc. but I was referring more to holiday time inbetween semesters. I remember that when I was at university I had 2 - 3 months (in total) a year holiday time. Now I have only 15 days leave a year...big sigh... [smile]

Well, right now it's worse for me.
My average school day - well, I'm at University to tell the truth - begins by leaving house at 7:20 to take the train. Almost every day. Sometimes I get back at 20:50 (roughly) so that's effectively 12+ hours. More often however I'll be home for 18:15.

This goes on by three years. This means, it is two years I'm unable to chase my own goals. This badly sucks. For an institution which is aimed towards quality of formation, this is inacceptable. The first year, I tried to develop both my engine and school crap and as a result, I'm now one year late.

However, you get what you can pay for and this is what I can pay for here.

well that kinda sucks, we only had lectures every other day or so between 9:00 and 12:00 and then we worked on our assignments the rest of the time, but we could dispose of that time as we saw fit.
And the last year we mostly worked on projects witch we planned ourselfs.

witch kinda ment that in one of the projects, someone from our 4 man group was allways working on the game we where making.
If i found a bug just before i left for the day, it was fixed the next morning.
