If I understand the concept of parallax mapping correctly, there might be a problem when the texture coordinate offset causes texels to be sampled across texture patch boundaries. I was wondering what people's experiences are with this 'drawback' of parallax mapping. * Does it cause visible seams on the textured model? * How much does the amount of visual error depend on the 'niceness' of the texture generation? Ie. if you have a lot of small patches vs. only a few 'large' patches (which probably means more distortion of the texture). --nico

it is exactly the reason you see parallax mapping on walls much more than objects [if you ever see it there]

the wall texture repeats so this isn't a problem... a texture on an object probably doesn't
