Hi I want to create an effect similar to the one shown at the following link. I want to be able to have the circle grow until it is too big for the screen as well as have those triangles spin around the center. I know how to do this in 2D (make a sprite and animate), but I want to do this rendered in 3D. Any suggestions http://www.dainteractiveonline.com/burst.jpg Kevin =)

First, learn OpenGl or DirectX8. Then learn how to draw lines with 3d cards. You can draw those balls with short lines. With 3d cards you can also have animated textures.

lets do it in opengl

initalize it
...
load texture showing circle
...
bind it
write

glBegin(GL_QUADS)
glVertex3f(-size,-size,z);
glVertex3f(-size, size,z);
glVertex3f( size, size,z);
glVertex3f( size,-size,z);
glEnd();

where size is size of circle you wanna
z is z position of effect

next you want lines so
glBegin(GL_LINES)
glVertex3f(0,0,z);
glVertex3f(x*cos(a),x*sin(a),z);
glEnd();

where x is lenght of line and a if angle of rotation

swarpbuffers and go!

do you know how to load/bind texture and initalize ogl????

no??? in that language you wanna it???

Thanks for the information

I am pretty well versed in DirectX so that is what I am working in. After I posted the message I realized I had answered my own question. I can draw a circle with an ever expanding diameter with triangles whose point is the center of the circle.

Thanks Again

Kevin =)
