Video processing on the GPU

On processors with dedicated video processor, how to grab a frame from a stream video input to the graphics card and use it as a texture map ? Has anyone tried this ? Is it possible ? If so how ?

Ok! Seems like you are reading .avi or wmv files already on the hard drive. This I have no problem. Also you are not doing anything specific for the onboard video processor of the GPU.

1) What I am curious to know is, Is there a way to connect the input video source (ex:- broadcast, DVD etc...) to the graphics card via cable.

2) In the above configuration, how do we grab the input video frame into a texture object ? Are there any specific extensions for this ?
