Positive down, negative up?
I''ve been wondering when you do a
D3DXMatrixTranslation(matrix, 0, 10, 0); the object (camera, model) goes down instead of up? Isn''t a postive on the Y axis going up?
This has been driving me buggy for atleast a few months. I''ve just been ignoring it but I guess I''m looking for a reason now.
Depends what you are doing. . . with different pts of reference and frames, up down, rotate positive rotate negative can get almost impossible to comprehend. . . I had the same problem and finally just gave up -- if it was going the wrong way, i reversed the sign.
I think your method of just ignoring it and trying different things out until they work is a good idea. . . =)

In D3DFVF_XYZRHW vertices the y axis goes + downwards. In D3DFVF_XYZ vertices it should go up. If it doesn''t, you may be doing something wrong...
