in my "game" i want to make it so that when the user clicks on a "Leave Game" button, a messagebox is displayed asking if he is sure he wants to quit. half the time, the box is displayed correctly, but sometimes the graphics are painted over it, and you can't see it (i know it is still there, because pressing enter quits the game) does anybody know how i can make it appear on top of all the graphics? i have tried using MB_SETFOREGROUND but it doesn't change it

Im not sure if this will help or not. You could implement some sort of pause game system, where when they press it the game is paused by using a game timer, thus stopping the updating of the graphics. I haven't ever tried that but it seems like it might help.

This probably won't help but try adding the MB_TOPMOST flag see if that works. Like the above poster said you need to stop updating the graphics try temporarily pausing the game or something similar to that.
