Clipping Object Space Vs Image Space

Hi , i am unable to diffrenciate between clipping in image space & clipping in object space. from what i know say if a polygon is defined based on vertices which are at a particular distance from the (arbitary)center point , then the polygon is said to be drawn on object space. & if the polygon is drawn with the co-ordinates of the screen , then the object is drawn in Image space. When it comes to clipping , the only form of clipping i am familiar with is comparing the co-ordinates (Image/World space) and checking with the clipping region / doing tests on it/ re-computing the new co-ordinates & drawing the polygon. How would clipping be performed in object space?Are either of the two prefered or its completely based on the approach chosen to draw the image in first place. Thanks
