question about texture in d3D

how to set colorkey in a texture surface, or how to get a transparent color effest in a texture. D3DFrame provide a way that use alpha test to get this effect, but my 3D videoCard dont surport ahlpha bit in 32 mode, so cant get the needed result. another question is can i blt a texture surface to another texture with defferent pixelformat directly. and can i directly read or write a texture surface that created in video mem. thanks lot.
