I am about to start using graphics in my games so I need to know what apps are good for 2d stuff? I dont want them to look brilliant just good enough so you can tell a house from a pig lol (with my artistic skill this is not totally absurd). Thanks for any help. Without question, Paintshop Pro - no port to Windows required. =)

www.jasc.com, there''s a downloadable evaluation version of 7.0 (30 days, but that''s 30 days of good editing), and you can even buy 6.0 for decent to cheap prices in stores.

Paintshop Pro is for graphics creation/editing as Photoshop was supposed to be for photo-editing.

Oh, I suppose if you wanted to be truly ''hardcore'', you would settle for nothing less than a hex editor and knowledge of the jpeg format. =)
