Out of curiosity, has anyone tried Cal3d at http://cal3d.sourceforge.net/? I'm writing my own skeletal animation code, and I hope I'm not reinventing the wheel. I tried Cal3d about a year ago and decided not to use it for some reason, but I don't recall why. Mike C. http://www.coolgroups.com/zoomer/

We use cal3d at work very successfully. I wish it had a more active development now but it's usable as is. We don't support linux so can't comment on the above linked post.
