Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to do billboarding in opengl. My current problem is that the colors of the texture get messed up, looking kind of posterized when I use the alpha channel to make them partly transparent. The transparency part is working ok, it just messes with the colors. Are there any tutorials that cover setting up and using textures for that sort of thing? I didn't turn up anything on google, but then again I might not have used the right keywords. Thanks in advance for any help, ~Andy

I feel a little silly, but anyhow here is what was going on in case anyone else ever has a similar problem:

In window setup (which I didn't think to check until now, go figure) I was asking for a 16-bit pixel format, which apparently screws up RGBA textures while leaving the RGB ones alone. The colors are working fine now that I changed it to 32-bit.
