Rendering Large Terrain?
Can u guys provide an Idea on how to render Large terrains in DX.. so far i only knw how to render brute force terrain that uses vertex and index buffer but there is a limitation in Vertex/Primitive count when using brute force
any terrain algorithm to suggest?
thanks
You can use a Level of Detail (LOD) algorithm to reduce the terrain complexity further away from the view position, where it will not be noticed.

You need to also incorporate frustum and occlusion culling this will allow you to not render all of the polygons on screen. Dramatically improving performance when rendering complex scenes.
And finally you can also load your terrain in chunks, allowing very large and detailed terrains without being forced to load everything at once. But the other recommendations are the place to start.
