sound events design

C# I have a 3D world where I'de like to add sounds like engine acceleration, birds, wind etc... Now I can play sounds just fine but I'de like a good design suggestion that would keep this simple. These sounds might depend on distance, level, player... My game objects are already set up as interfaces (an ITank extends IArmoredVehicle extends IVehicle...) I think I could use this to include sounds for each type... I've never worked with making my own events so before I try this I'de like to know if this design is bad. thx V.
