How to seperate pallete from pixel index?

Hi everyone: I have hundreds of bitmaps, all are very small patch (below 100*100). And they have the same pallete. Then if i bind they into a resource file together, there will be a waste of space because (3*256)/(100*100)=7% is repetition in every patch. I believe it will be better to seperate palette from pixel indexs data. But in this manner, I must abandon my favourite LoadImage & SelectObject and lose my way now. Anyone can give me some advice about the loading and processing of the pallete and pixels index data? hmmm.... in Windows GUI and DirectX. It would be great if there is some samples on net be my guiding dog!
