setting a custom cursor with dx8

As the subject say, i wanna chage the cursor for a game. There is the function IDirect3DDevice8::SetCursorProperties, but it takes a IDirect3DSurface8* as a parameter, how can i draw a bitmap into a surface to pass as a parameter?... or is there another way? Thanks for your answer I really like this site!

There is a D3DX function that will load a graphic onto a Surface. Can''t remember offhand what it is but probably something like D3DXCreateSurfaceFromFile().

You then need to do a ShowCursor() and a SetCursorPosition() (from IDirect3DDevice8).
