Hi there I have a complex MFC applications (level editor) under development and want porting it to Linux. I'm not going to use any GTK/QT/wxWindows/... or anything even if they are portable, and I'm not going to change thousands of MFC lines into another API. I like the way MFC work and the neat look and functionality of various controls, not to mention the great flexibility in MFC. My question simply is, if we have MFC source, cannot someone implement a linux version, something like libMFC.so using the X Window API? Is there any legal issue in this regard? Thanks.

Yes. Read the license agreement concerning MFC and the usage of the source code as well as everything else included in the SDK's, DDK's, and Visual Studio (or it's components) as a whole. I really don't see this topic going anywhere as any legal advice provided or discussion will be fairly useless (and moot) unless it comes from a licensed attorney.
