Have created a status bar

      hwnd_status = CreateWindowEx(0, STATUSCLASSNAME, NULL, WS_VISIBLE | WS_CHILD,
                                   0, 0, 0, 0, hwnd,
                                   (HMENU)0, hInstance, 0);
But it looks hidden. Why?

You've given very little to go on, so I'll just ask a few questions.

1) Are you calling InitCommonControlsEx ( ) before creating the status bar?

2) Are you checking that the window handle returned by create window is not null? (I assume you are from your code snippit.)

3) Are you sending the status bar the WM_SIZE messages from it's parent window? The status bar isn't going to be properly positioned if not.
