Vehicle Driven By Mac OS X
Clicky. Completely empty, except for the computers driving it. Computer controlled subways with no drivers are on the way too, I bet. What do you think of "humanless driving".

In Paris, one of the subway lines (14?) is computer controlled and driverless.

Never knew that! Have you ever been on it in person? That would be crazy.

Haven't you seen any movies? It's only a matter of time before the computers decide they want to run the show. Then they just set a time, and BAM! instant mass carnage.

i don't think its so crazy for a subway to be operated solely by computers, especially since it's on a track. however, for cars to drive by themselves, they have to be aware of all their surroudings so as not to crash, stay in lines, obey traffic laws, etc.

Very crazy,... like, they are trains that are running on RAILS with nothing for someone to do if they are there driving them, or monitering them in an office. Its just so crazy that something that goes down the same rails to the same places each and every day wouldn't have a driver!
Now, a car I am impressed with, but making a train that can be sped up and stopped without a driver in there, I'm not overly impressed with. its running on RAILS and you only have 1 dimension of freedom, back or forth (And then switches, but they're always controled by someone off the train anyway)
By "subway", you mean an underground train line, then, I take it? (In England, a subway is a walkway under a busy main road - I can hardly see why you'd need to computer-control that).
I wonder how long it will be until they're at the level of sophistication of the Johnnycab...

Christ, if I had a cheery rosy-cheeked robot telling me in excited tones all the time to "have a nice day" I'd be killing people left and right.
We had talking garbage cans here in one of the local McDonalds -- it took about a week from the time they were featured in the local paper (why yes, we are trying to be hicks) to the point where some wiseass broke the wires so it wouldn't yell anymore.
