What's a nice cross-platform socket library? Preferably one that has easy libraries compiled for Linux, Windows and OS X, since I don't really enjoy compiling stuff on my own. Also, can you link me to some tutorials covering the basics of sockets and network programming?

there's some good info in there. definately read beej's guide to networking, there's a link to it in the faq.
