Three white boys and a nun, I think, to give it some 'edge'.

Romeo is a misunderstood guru. But Bill and Carmack can definately carry a tune.

3 guy and one nun?
isn't that the Black eyes peas?
Well, my name is Jack Smith...

but I'm a hip hop fan so I could probably pull it off (not that I want to be the next Eminem or anything).

This is me and my sexy computer. Your close attension should be on my image :-). I think I can pull it off. I should have all of my pro-audio stuff ready within a month. Then I'll lay down the track, and see if I can get it stickied in the Help Wanted forums. Also, as someone who actually reads that forum on a regular basis, I'm thinking of starting a lounge thread soon (huge thread) dealing with all of the issues with that forum and how they should be solved.

Funkeh, that case could teach my parents new tricks. I've written the poems with a slightly posh English accent in mind (there are some phonetic spellings) but I reviewed them in an American accent to make sure 99% rhymed. So it should work out ok. Third and hopefully final part done tomorrow.

MMORPG's That Don't #3

Now an unpopular series!

“Now is the winter of our discontent”
Muttered Bob as he scratched his name into a bench.
Our trio of heroes, now just empty husks,
Sat staring in anguish at Sams C++.

The project was doomed, And GRAWL was dead,
Shot down in a firestorm of brutal contempt.
But they were not beaten, though terribly scarred,
They vowed to continue, no matter how hard.

So sitting now quietly, they studied the pages,
Each thinking the same thing 'This is going to take ages'.
But study they did, and when they got tired,
They went home to sleep, and dreamed of compilers.

A new day dawned and the buses rolled in,
The morning routine, the usual din.
Straight to IT, and their favorite places,
They logged-on in silence, concern on their faces.

“The plan today is to learn all we can”
Said Jim as he typed, with only one hand.
“Some articles", he mentioned, "might help us out"
"I''ll find some more websites, there must be some about.”

All through that day the three of them learned,
Not stopping for lunch, not even a turd.
They surfed all the sites, flipcode and more,
They downloaded cool demos, and source code galore.
Bob found free software, and began to design
A car like his fathers, with fine racing lines.

And when the long day, came to an end,
They went back home, wiser young men.

The following day, a weekend break,
They gathered with friends, down by the lake.
Bob wore his anorak and Jim was in tights
A stranger collection, you never did sight.
The sun was high, and grass so green
They forgot all their worries, Tom started to dream.

...A world of water, green and bright,
And covered in ducks, what a delight!
Then a boat raced past, pirate flags on its mast,
It was scooping up ducks, it looked like a blast!...

He woke with a start, then realizing slowly,
Holy intervention had blessed him most nobly.
Now charged with a quest, to make it a game,
A far simpler affair, but still a good strain!

He turned to Bob Jerk, and waving his arms,
Flapped like a bird, Bob stared in alarm.
Jim, who was nearby, noticed the fuss,
He readied his Biro and arrived in a rush!
Speaking in tongues, with uneasy plurals,
The outline Bob gave them was beautifully tuneful...

And so it was on, a much smaller project,
More fitting to people on a rather tight budget .

Bob drew some ducks, a magnificent feet,
They wore colored waistcoats and had bendy beaks.
The ship was quite stunning, to be viewed from above,
Three hours of work and only one smudge.

And Tom got to work on a design document,
Presenting in detail, his plans for development
Even Jim chipped in with a production schedule,
A system, he new, would increase their potential!

And then they were ready, with everything planned,
Nothing left to do but take matters into hand.

Now four months have passed... and I would be wrong,
To say it was easy, that it didn't take long.
Times were hard, and problems were plentiful
But they pulled together and have done something special.

Not a full game by any respect,
Or even that close to the original spec.
But they do have ducks, and a moving boat.
The water is green - its set in a moat.

And now they are ready, for the help wanted pages,
Responses are likely, polite ones with praises.
Each taking a chair, they gather around,
Tom types the address, they wont fail now.

In a moment it loaded, like a magical spell
The news page was updated, he clicked through to hell...

But now things were different, he had a design,
And a demo to show their resolve in hard-times.
Respondents were few, but better than none,
A private message agreed their game was fun.

The old project once burning, now covered in dust.
A sleeping reminder, of dreams we can't trust.
But from the old wreckage, a new design grew,
Built on sound knowledge, and experience too.

A tale of tyrant ducks and pirates most terrible,
Who lived in a moat surrounding a temple,
Which sat on a hill, far to the east,
Of a giant bustling city, in a world full of NPC's.

I thought a happy ending was in order. Hollywood made me do it :)

And thank you to everyone who left (and plans to leave) comments!

Top notch -- You're actually quite a creative writer -- not skilled, but definitely creative.

That actually really makes me laugh -- not only do I look back at my own ignorance and misgivings, but it reminds me of when I use to frequent here enough to moderate the boards -- but instead I spent my time flaming identical threads such as these.

coincidentally, im a 2002. Not far off. Old-timer indeed.
