Gang War

These are some videos of my game Gang War that I'm currently developing. I've written it from scratch over the last ~1.5 years, and I've completly funded the game myself. I contracted artists to model the characters and vehicles. There isn't much variety throughout the city yet...but that will much improve with time. I'm currently focusing on more important parts of the game. I'm going for a commercial release, and I've signed a publishing deal for the game. I'm also going to enter the game into the 2006 Independent Games Festival. In the game you control a gang type of your choice, and fight for control of a randomly generated city. The game is a hybrid Real time strategy/Action game. Most of the time will be spent above, giving orders to your gang members...but at any time you can take control of one of your gangsters and complete your own orders. This provides all kinds of intersting situations. If you wanna know more about the game my website is http://www.radioactive-software.com and I'm maintaining a developers journal here at GameDev. I've recently added basic ragdoll physics into the game, and it's getting better every day. http://www.radioactive-software.com/gangwar/GangWarPhysicsEarly1.avi - 9 MB http://www.radioactive-software.com/gangwar/GangWarPhysicsEarly2.avi - 17 MB Police Car doing burnouts in a parking lot, here's a preview image: http://www.radioactive-software.com/gangwar/GangWarPhysicsPolice1.avi - 11 MB And a longer video showing more of a gameplay situation, fast driving/turning, also showing the different handling of 4 different cars. http://www.radioactive-software.com/gangwar/GangWarDrivingTest1.avi - 35 MB The framerates could be better, but my damn computer slows down whenever I try to record a video :-( This also causes some physics inaccuracies, but it's not too bad. None of this really shows the strategic aspect of the game, but it's there :-) I've created a windows like GUI system that allows you to have many windows open at once which you use to buy weapons for your gang, there's a drug market in the game, you can manage your gangsters, etc. There are 16 managment windows in the game. The player/gangsters can enter any building in the city, and I'm got a conversation system setup that the player will use to exort/intimidate/sell drugs/etc. to the gangsters/civilians in the game. So I guess it kind of has some RPG elements to it. Another cool feature of the game is the ability to speed up time. If you don't want to wait all day for one of your gansters to get accross a city, you can speed time up to 8X, it looks very cool in motion, you can see the coulds moving faster, and the shadows moving as well, it looks sweeeeet. Any comments are welcome, I'm always curious to hear what other developers thing about my project. - Dan

Hats off to your artwork and modeling team. Looks great!
Bravo. I can't wait to see/play this game. The graphics are very nicely done and from what I can tell so is the engineering.

I love seeing "early tests" compared to more complete demos. It's a real inspiration.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, your game is simply incredible. Is there any hope of getting a demo version out soon?
