I'm designing a non-interactive demo in C++, where creatures live, die and overall exhibit behavoiral AI. I would like the AI to be scripted as to make it easier to modify. What scripting language does everybody think would work better? Is using C# as a scripting language a good idea or a headache? Thanks

Using C# isn't bad, but it is annoying if your project isn't already made with the .NET framework (Managed C++ or C++/CLI).

But overall, just pick one and go with it. Python, Lua and Angelscript are all relatively easy to embed.

I've been playing around with Boo for about the past week or so and it seems very powerful as a CLS compliant language. If you're not using the .NET framework, stay away from using C#, VBScript or any of those other languages. It's very easy to implement a system that uses those languages if you're using the framework, but too much of a pain if you're not using it. If I were you, I'd go with either Lua, Python or AngelScript.

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do in this area as well. I'm thinking about cradling Java. I'm working on getting a prototype up and running. I'll reply back when I get it done.
