Hey I was just wondering I was looking at the judging Criteria and I noticed it didnt talk about graphics. Does this mean that a 2D game and 3D Game will be judged equally despite the graphics?, or do graphics go into kudo points? and if you could tell me anything else that might be a factor in how the game will be graded that wasnt mentioned to much in the Contest page. Anyhow If anyone here is looking to team up with a C++/OpenGL Programmer with a very good amount of experience contact me at MSN(Supremedarkenergy@hotmail.com), or respond here telling me how I can contact you.

Graphics count as much as they would with any game. While we have created some fancy columns and scores for you to see, the end result of judging for this contest is very simple:

From the judges perspective (running on the machines available to them, which meet or exceed the posted minimum requirements) how good of a game is your entry. Graphics are certainly a part of any game, and it's really up to you how they are balanced with other entities (gameplay, sound, story, etc). A game that's really fun but uses basic 2D sprites could score high, while a game with near Doom 3 graphics but horrible gameplay (like say, if you entered Doom 3) might score much lower.

Frankly if you can do something nice in 2D (or if you don't think you can put together a decent 3D entry in the time given), then I encourage you to make something 2D.

Just look at the minimum requirements (must include 2 of the 4 elements, must be able to run on a 1.5Ghz machine with a GeForce 2, must run on Windows, must include manual, must be submitted by October 31, 2005, must not include anything pornographic or otherwise "NC-17") and make the best game you can.

Side note

The only valid answers to the contest questions that are being asked come from staff members (green letters beside their name). If you ask a question and someone else gives you an answer, ignore it and wait for a staff member. Do not screw up your entry (and possibly get disqualified) because you followed the opinion of someone who isn't even associated with the contest.
