Hey all, Would anyone else possibly be interested in working to provide a repository of media for use in their entries? I'm not sure if the idea is a good one or if it would lead to everyone making a game that looked the same. So I'm just after some feedback if possible. I'm just thinking, perhaps it would be nice for people to share non-essential models/sounds/textures/etc in one location, so people needn't worry too much about having to create 10 varieties of tree, when they should be concentrating on their gameplay. So I'm not necessarily saying we should share things which are critical to the look and feel of the game, but rather the fluff that slows down the process. If anyone feels this might be worthwhile, I have some reasonably sized webspace with a pretty decent bandwidth limit, and could set up some external ftp accounts for others to use (if others consider the idea is worthwhile I don't mind submitting some programmer art [some static, textured 3d models I've made in 3ds format]!). Please let me know what you think and whether you feel this is in the spirit of the contest, or whether it may spoil the contest by making the media side of thigns too easy. If people like this idea then I'll try and set something up! Regards, Steve

It sounds like a good idea, but you would need something with each file saying that it's free for anyone to use and distribute etc etc.

It would be good if people went for it, but I think it would probably take someone to start the ball rolling before many people signed up to something like that. You know, they wouldn't want to be giving stuff up for potentially nothing in return - it is a competition after all.

Still you never know... I bet this will be a more popular idea closer to crunch time [smile]
