Vertex buffer to Indices Automatically

Is there a math formual I can use to automatically convert a vartes array into an index array to put into my buffers?

If you just have a bunch of vertices and no indices, you can still draw them. You just use DrawPrimitive instead of DrawIndexedPrimitive. Set the stream source to your vertex buffer and draw with DrawPrimitive.

hi,

if you are thinking about an algorithm that will kill duplicated vertices, then create an index buffer mentioned by Superpig, then use D3DXWeldVertices and maybe ID3DXMesh::Optimize or OptimizeInPlace
