Ok i have read the book "Beginning c++ game programming" and want to know what book should i read to teach me how to program 2d stuff i dont want one of these rpg books i was hoping for a book that would teach me directx and give me the knowloge i need t ostart making games like tetris, pong, astroids stuff like that then ill buy a book on making a big rpg project so just want to know if anyone has read anybooks they would reccomend for someone with my knowloge. And i just wanna check directX is the best thing to use right i dont mean the easiest i dont want to spend time learning somethin like allergo if im going to have to forget it all in a month so i just wanna check that if i use directx i wont have to change to something better in a month so can someone plz tell me if im right about directX

Umm, maybe start a little bit smaller. DirectX is for some 2D things, but is mostly for 3D. Also, DirectX is supported directly by Microsoft, so it is only for Windows. Some have tried DirectX and failed, and switched over to OpenGL, which is multi-OS and a tad bit easier to understand. Some have used OpenGL and failed, and switched over to DirectX. Also, with OpenGL, you have to write most of the functions, such as keyboard input for example. You can try Google for DirectX and OpenGL, but I'm just curious as to how much knowledge you have of C++ to start. If you have made a few console games in the past then step up to SDL, a 2D graphics engine or Allegro as you mentioned. Again, I don't have links, so Google those also. Good luck programming.
