starting the games

hey, i got the basics of C++ ( class, array, input, output,, cin, cout, blah blah blah) im ready to start learning the game programming, what books would you recommend for a beginner? i want to do directx cause you can access hardware and stuff

class, array, input, output, cin, cout, blah blah blah doesn't mean you are ready to do game programming just yet... esp with DirectX... ok.. suppose you have learnt your c++... it still takes time to learn the DirectX API... even more... it'll prolly take you another while until you can start actually "accessing the hardware"... doing low level stuff... presumably you are referring to the GFX card...

anyway I suggest you start making console based games first... like tic tac toe, pong... tetris... maybe do something like a text adventure game...
after that... start doing some graphics.... once you are familiar with the graphics... you can try putting graphics to the games you have made...

I dunno any really good books.... but you might wanna browse around gamedev... there are some recommended books plus reviews.... and if you haven't yet... I strongly suggest you visit here for a start.

I recommend "Tricks Of The Windows Game Programming Guru's" by Andre Lamothe. Thats what I'm working through right now.
