i've got a cool chrome texture effect using sphere mapping, but the chrome is kinda "too shiny", i am rendering data from another commercial game, so i cannot modify the graphics, all i need to do is to set the chrome texture to be "transluscent" so it is not completely solid, well the hardware is certainly capable of doing this for years, and in directx 7 i think this is called "low level light map", but how do i do this in opengl?

It might seem cryptic, but I'm pressed for time.

this will help you:

glTexEnvf(GL_TEXTURE_ENV,GL_COMBINE_RGB, GL_INTERPOLATE);

look into that.
