Need source
How are you gentlemen! :)
I was wandering if anybody of you has a source code of some simple game using glut as its base window/rendering/callbacks library that he could share. Or maybe someone knows a good tutorial on the net which explains building game mechanics using glut library. Preferably first, because I've seen a lot of glut tutorials and none of them gave me the information I need. So please if you're able to help me here's my mailbox: thamior at mail.ru
Thanks in advance. :)
I looked actually. An there is a game tutorial but there is no version of it using glut. Otherwise I wouldn't post this :)
C'mon people. I really have serious problems with glut and I need to know either my compiler is bugged or am I slowly going mad, cause my stuff doesn't work the way I want it to despite the fact that I've read a lot and as I think do everything right.

;)
and if you're having problems with glut then ask a specific question about that don't ask us to provide full source to a game, ask specific questions if you want reasonble answers.

For great justice! ;)
Ok, the question may seem a bit strange. You see sometimes when I compile my preprealpha game project (with MSVC .NET), It begins to run so slow and jaggy. I don't know what causes this. And then when I leave the compiler alone, shut it down and play a little World of Warcraft, and then after several hours (you know how it happens :)) I try to compile it again and everything runs smooth as intended to be. And there are barely anything more than a couple of graphic primitives in the project. So what is it? Is my compiler bugged? Are there some windows processes that hamper it? Are there any tiny elves and gremlins that wage war inside my compiler with varying success? Or what the hell else is happening? Coz it kinda makes me feel so helpless :(
I would vote gremlins on that one ;) Could be some strange resource leak you could use perfmon to monitor memory usage and check for handle leakage.
Else try to reproduce the error using the smallest amount of code possible, essentially binary-search like removal of things will help you find the troublespot in managable time (it's a good method to debuging even in the general case).

Hmmm.. do you have to recompile to get it to work right? It seems to me like you're running some other programs that hog cpu power. I've had problems with jerky movement when running p2p programs while testing my programs.

Hmm, you must be right. It may have happened because eMule was running. I'm going to check it out :) Thanks :)
I've found that .Net (I think 2002 Academic version) tends to hang on the first compile. You might just try to run it twice and see if it's any faster.
