grayscale convetion other than (R+G+B)/3 ?

I noticed that Photoshop does not 'seem' to simply add the RGB values together and divide by 3 when converting to grayscale. Am I wrong? What equation do they use or what's a good one? I've read that you can use something like 0.24*R + 0.65*G + 0.11*B
