ID3DXFragmentLinker question

I'm trying to extract the shader type and version from each fragment within a ID3DXFragmentLinker object. The ID3DXFragmentLinker method GetFragmentDesc() stores the description in a D3DXFRAGMENT_DESC structure. In the SDK documentation it says the DWORD "Target" of that struct contains this information. from the SDK about DWORD D3DXFRAGMENT_DESC::Target... "The compile target identifies the shader type (vertex or pixel) and the version number." Anyone know how to get this info out of the DWORD? If not, is there another way to get this info from the fragments? Thanks in advance.
