Hello, I am looking for a Milkshape3D C++ importer for my game that supports current ms3d files. I tried several old importers but all of them did not work with ms3d files from Milkshape3D 1.7.x nor with Milkshape3D ASCII files. Thank you,

Most tutorials check if the milkshape version is 1.* something, if that's the case, delete the version check and see if it runs.

In my own Milkshape loader class I only check if it's an Milkshape file.
Hope this is it!

if (strncmp(pHeader->m_ID, "MS3D000000", 10 ) != 0)
return false; // "Not A Valid Milkshape3D Model File."

/*
//I would leave this out:

if (pHeader->m_version < 3 || pHeader->m_version > 4)
return false; // "Unhandled File Version. Only Milkshape3D Version 1.3 And 1.4 Is Supported."
*/

The author of Milkshape had once posted code in his forums for loading the 1.7.4 binary files. I can't find it anymore, but I've posted it on my website. You can get it here

clicky

Its really easy to use. You shouldn't have any problem.

I also tried the nehe loader (tutorial 31) and there the model is loaded, but the textures are not shown. (I also tried to modify this lesson but I get instant error near "ifstream inputFile( filename, ios::in | ios::binary | ios::nocreate );" with VC7).
