Where can I find articles/tutorials on playing CDs using the .NET framework? Can it be done? Do I have to resort back to the winmm.dll calls? I sure hope not!! :P

It should be possible using the .net bindings for SDL. I haven't checked this myself, but since the "normal" SDL supports it, I see no reason why it shouldn't available. Sure, if you'd only use SDL for this one task, it may be overkill, but to me, it still sounds preferable to using winmm directly.

meh, using winmm isn't that bad. It's actually pretty simple.

There are P/Invoke definitions for winmm functions in case you need them. I imagine code to play the CD will look something like this (untested):

[DllImport("winmm.dll")]
static extern Int32 mciSendString(String command,
StringBuilder buffer, Int32 bufferSize, IntPtr hwndCallback);

mciSendString("play cd", null, 0, IntPtr.Zero);
