Vertex shader lerp factor 1 'safe'?

Hi there... In my vertex shader I used an interpolator for 'lerp' that was greater than 1 for some vertices, to create a nice effect. It worked on my card but am I guaranteed that it will work on every card? By the way, the docs say:

Returns x + s(y - x). This linearly interpolates between x and y, such that the return value is x when s is 0, and y when s is 1.
However I don't know if chip vendors would take shortcuts on things like that. Cheers
