I thought NEHE's tutorial was plenty good for the job. I sthere part of it that you don't understand?? I think any other tutorial is going to give you close to the same thing. But then, you could get a loader premade like DEVIL, as Crane said.

I haven't looked at the NeHe loader for a while, but from what I remember it's not compliant with the spec at all, and won't load some formats of TGA. I suggest you grab the spec and just write one yourself, it is a pretty simple format.

Or just use something like DevIL or SDL_Image ( I assume this can load TGA ).

Loading TGA's?

Urg. The actual documentation on the .tga file format is pretty straightforward, and should not be that difficult to implement. Be warned that targas store pixel information in BGR format, and that when you start adding support for RLE (which is a really good thing to have), things can get a bit odd.

Also, ignore the odd types of .tga formats that are supported. Color mapping is just a pain in the neck, and you don't really need to support it, nor do you need to support most of the extended areas of the TARGA format.

Otherwise, good luck.
