Anybody remember that game called Hidden Agenda? Well, I've always wanted to put together a sequel set in Europe. The original developer had started one but never finished, so why not me... I just need to know two things, how can I improve on the original and how should I change the people and events to reflect a small European country? I'll post my ideas up here after my net connection stabilizes. Also, here's a link to a review of the first one: http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=506

You'll most likely need to secure permission from either the original developer or from whoever now owns the rights to the game if you want to make a sequel.

You can legally make a very similar game with different graphics, etc. though.

Well, it's not an actual sequel. There are only two things in common:

1. You come to power after the cruel leader of the country is overthrown and you must form a stable government.
2. You can choose to interact with people inside and outside your country, and your decisions during the meetings will affect the overall outcome.

The graphics will definately be different. The version I'm making now will have graphics like that drug dealer game(can't quite remember the name now) but with more pictures and sounds. The second version will have actual quality graphics instead of the standard menu look. Other different aspects include how much time passes in a turn and the way a turn ends(no more seasons and limited meetings).

Right now, I plan to include some sort of background choice like in Tropico that will affect events in the game. There will also be more detail in the country and depth in your event choices. I have some other ideas but they aren't quite worked out yet.

That's alright then, just don't want you getting in any legal trouble. [wink]

I don't really know much about the game in question, but it sounds like it might be interesting. If you post some more of your ideas once you've got them organised there might be a bit more to discuss.
