OpenGL Cross plaftorm render targets

Ok, so I'm abstracting rendering and windowing API's in my engine. That's going pretty smoothly except that OpenGL render targets are an ungodly lot of work to do (since SDL doesn't have them, I'd have to do a Win32 version, a mac version, and something else for linux too which I haven't even figured out yet). So I was wondering, does anyone know a better way? As in something that will keep me from having to write (a lot of) platform specific code?

Just use FBOs !

GL_EXT_framebuffer_object, no WGL crap, it's way faster, and less painfull, driver support broadening, and usable already.
Here's the extension :
