I've gotten pretty good with making a bunch of simple text programs so now I want to start with the DirectX stuff. Where should I start? Some links to some good tutorials would be helpful. Thanks.

Well, google will likely give more/better answers than me/us, but the DrunkenHyena tutorials are the only DirectX tutorials that I've seen and was able to learn anything from.

I assume you ar eusing c++? If so, you may want to look into windows programming a bit first. Most tutorials/books will give you enough info to set up a basic window though. I would also recommend DH's tutorials, they helped me trying to port my code from managed to unmanaged...

He also had some c#/managed DX tutorials up, but those seem to be down temporarily due to site reorganizing.

Actually, the tutorials in the sdk is a very good place to start. They are short and to the point. Since you are a beginner, please take a long hard look at those tutorials and don't move onto the next one before you fully understand the previous one.

Good luck.
