Hi all, Here in the near future, I'm thinking I'd like to contract some textured models for one of my projects. Don't really have any plans to take it commercial, but I'm willing to pay some money out of pocket to make my project look nice ;) As an added bonus, I'd get to help someone else in the indie community out, which would be great. Here's basically the situation:
  • Models would be for a space sim
  • Studio Max files would be prefered (ultimately they're going to .X, I'd like to be able to load them straight up as well)
  • I can't draw, so no real concept art in the traditional sense. I have some basic modelling ability, so I can do some concept models instead
I'd be interested in seeing some samples of anyone interested. Also, a general idea of price range per piece would be most helpful :) Thanks much and I look forward to hearing back from the community!

Funny, I was pretty much in exactly that same situation a year or so ago (space sim, max to .x, no concept art, paying out of pocket, etc)

I had good luck posting ads in the help wanted section, but you really need a demo up with at least programmer art to get many responses. Plus, then you get to weed through the replies to find the people who do good work.

I can ask the guys contracting for my project if they need any more paid work, if you want.
