Alpha channel not preserved using VMR9 for decoding video

Hey guys, I'm using VMR9 and the HUFFYUV codec (preserves the alpha channel in the video). Using a custom allocator I pass an ARGB surface to the VMR but and using the overridden Presentation handler/callback I StretchRect this surface to another surface (flipping..) except its throwing away the alpha channel (completely black).. (I tested the input video and it contains an alpha channel for sure, after effects has no problems whatsoever with this source video..) Anyone knows if I should set some VMR9 flag somewhere to tell it I want the Alpha channel preserved in the decoded frames? thx.
