SoundTest.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: long __thiscall CWaveFile::Write(unsigned int,unsigned char *,unsigned int *)"....
SoundTest.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: long __thiscall CWaveFile::Open(char *,struct tWAVEFORMATEX *,unsigned long)" ....
SoundTest.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: __thiscall CWaveFile::CWaveFile(void)" (??0CWaveFile@@$$FQAE@XZ)
SoundTest.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: __thiscall CWaveFile::~CWaveFile(void)" (??1CWaveFile@@$$FQAE@XZ)
I don't know what i need to include or link to in the project settings. I've added dsutil.h to the project settings.

Have you also added dsutil.cpp to the project? Unresolved external's are generally flagged when the body of said functions can't be found.

Well holy shit...............linked to dxerr9.lib like you said and it works. After a wasted few hours tryin to sort it out :(
Added these two lines to top of code:
#pragma comment (lib, "winmm.lib")
#pragma comment (lib, "dxerr9.lib")
I also had to add the dsutil.cpp to the project like JY said so thanks to you too :D
