DSound 2d voices: deferred settings?

Hello, In Eax4 docs i read that apparently 2D buffers settings (play, setgain..) cannot be deferred and imply complete recalculation, just like calling undeferred 3D buffer setting or commit on listener. i cannot find trace of this in DSound documentation, so some doubt is present. i can create a 2D buffer with DSBCAPS_LOCDEFER flag, so looks like it's all OK, but it's hard to be 100% sure. Anyone has a final word? Thanks, Michele.
