Input "lag"

Hi Iam having some problems getting DInput to work ( again ) properly in my application. Iam experiencing some kind of input "lag"; the input state seems to occaisionally freeze in my application ( for example I move forward, and I cant stop anymore for 2 or 3 seconds ). Iam using buffered input. While the input is stuck, my debugging attempts have shown that there is no further data being received from DInput, so its definately not a problem of the Dinput data processor residing in my code. Another strange thing is that exactly this DInput code worked in my old application ( I ported it over ) and I cant really find the reason why iam having this lag problem in my new application. Can anyone think of anything that may be wrong / that could cause the problem? Thanks in advance :)
