MFC manually setting document extension name

I created a program in mfc and now I'm trying to implement saving. My open function is overridden so I can specify my extension. But when I click save it pops up with only one extension All files *.*. I've tried everything to set the filter extension. I created another temp project with support for saving and tried to see where it stored the info. I found it in a .reg file so I copied that file and modified it to my program. Registered it at InitInstance() and still just says All files. Does anyone know how to do this? I really dont wanna start all over just so I can use the wizard again. Thanks.
