Quake 3 Source Wiki Project?
Hello all.
With the release of Quake 3 source code into GPL, i think it would be very interesting to document out all the code in an easy to understand online wiki like page.
So I am willing to help this cause and want to know if anyone else out there is willing to work on a Quake 3 Source code wiki, not unlike the unrealwiki.
I am a semi experienced C++ programmer, about 6 years of C++, and of that about 1 year of C.
lets get something going. If there isnt already something out there.
sounds like a good idea.
I am not sure there is a wiki out there but there is most likely alot of details out there.

Rather than starting your own wiki from scratch, why not create a cluster of pages on one of the existing game development wikis? You could call it "The Annotated Quake 3 Source Code Guide" and include liberale excerpts of the source code, or even take each function, by file and organizational relationship, and annotate it completely.
Look for a wiki that allows for free-format wiki words, so you don't have to create forced CamelCase terms.
Good luck!

Since im in the process of learning more about the inner workings of game engines, i'm interesting to do what I can to help [smile]. Just got the Quake 3 source yesterday, and have been looking at it a fair amount to see how it actually does things, thank god its very easy to follow.
you might want to get in contact with the guys in quakesrc.org - they already have a Quake 1 wiki up and are setting up a centralised place to fix Q3A source code bugs.
