I wrote a testing applicaiton for Direct3D9. The main app window is a dialog box from where you can choose adapter, device, and display mode to test. Now after selecting for example a 640x480 60hz display mode, the test runs switching the display mode to full screen. Now the problem is when I quit the current test and return to the dialog, the display mode remains the same (not returns to the previous desktop mode, which was 1024x786) Only when I shutdown the Direct3D9 Object I get the desired result. Is there a way for avoiding object shutdown for acheiving the desired result ???

I thought there were a bunch of people up in arms because using ChangeDisplaySettings had sometimes undesirable results?

Also, what is the default that it sets to? The settings you created the window with? or is there some global default that it uses?

Thanks for the additional info

ChangeDisplaySettings(NULL, 0) will change the display mode back to what the user had before a dynamic display change (i.e. Direct3D going Fullscreen) I believe.
