learned c++ basics now what?

Agreed. You're kidding yourself if you think two days is enough to let you program games. (Of course, if you already know another language *very well*, it might be a bit easier, but you really need to learn C++ thoroughly before you jump into advanced API's like OGL or DX.

Anything else will just lead to frustration.

SDL is great to get started with eventhough it only has 2D support, but you can use it together with OpenGL (that way you don´t need any Windows/whatever operating system you´re using related code to open a window). I suggest starting with simple 2D SDL games (Pong maybe) so you get familiar with the input and sound capabilities of SDL (use SDL_mixer for sound, itś easier). When you know SDL, you could move on to using OpenGL for the 3D graphics.
